Garlic Bread

GARLIC BREAD……. This is the best version of it you will ever have. Super quick and simple to make but the flavor is unbeatable with the addition of spicy and sweet Calabrian chilies, a touch of honey to balance that heat, freshly grated lemon zest and of course the king and queen of Italian cheeses, Parmigiano-Reggiano and Pecorino-Romano. I went with a whole grain bread here, but any crusty bread of your choice works just the same!

Garlic Bread Recipe:

  • 1 large loaf of crusty bread (whole grain, ciabatta, sourdough, etc), sliced in half lenghtwise

  • 1 pound butter, softened to room temperature

  • 2 tbsp calabrian chilies

  • 1 tbsp freshly cracked black pepper

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 1/2 bunch parsley, chopped

  • 2 tsp honey

  • 1 shallot, peeled and minced

  • 20 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

  • 2 tsp Graza extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 lemons, zest only

  • 1 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese plus 1/2 cup reserved for topping

  • 1 cup grated Pecorino-Romano cheese

  • 1/2 bunch of chives, sliced thin for garnish

  1. in a large mixing bowl, add all of your ingredients except the bread, reserved cheese and chives and mix well to combine

  2. add your sliced bread to a large sheet tray and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the top of the bread and let sit for 10 minutes at room temperature while your oven preheats

  3. preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit

  4. once your oven is up to temperature, add in your garlic bread and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and delicious

  5. remove your bread, let sit for 2-3 minutes before garnishing with the reserved cheese and chives, then slice and enjoy!
